For women experiencing abuse or sudden crisis, the first days after leaving can become another emergency. South Africa's current GBV response recognises that women and children can remain trapped in cycles of violence when communities look away or practical support is unavailable.
The H.E.R Safe Start would turn the organisation's mission into tangible assistance.
H.E.R can develop emergency care packages containing essential toiletries, women's hygiene products, basic clothing, children's necessities and other immediate supplies. Where needs exceed what H.E.R can safely provide directly, women can be connected with appropriate shelters, counselling, social services and other specialist organisations.
