Her Right to Be Safe

H.E.R stands with women and girls facing gender-based violence, supporting safer communities, survivor dignity and a South Africa where women can live without fear.

Her Right to Be Safe

Gender-based violence and femicide remain a national crisis in South Africa. In September 2026 alone, the national GBV Command Centre received 6,782 calls between 1 and 16 September, averaging 424 calls every day.

The recent deaths of women in Ekurhuleni have again forced communities to confront what women experience every day: fear while walking, travelling, working and living their ordinary lives.

H.E.R believes safety is not a privilege. It is a fundamental right.

Through this cause, we want to support community awareness, survivor referral pathways, safe-space initiatives and practical assistance for women and children affected by violence.

We will also use our voice to challenge the silence surrounding abuse. Preventing violence cannot be left to women alone. Men, families, schools, institutions and communities all have a responsibility.

Heal the trauma. Empower the survivor. Rise against violence.
